You will certainly want to bring some light tackle on these trips, just for fun, but when you get into this kind of action, you will strap on your butt belt and reach for the HEAVY GEAR.

Bring good quality tackle only. Cheap stuff will explode with the first strike. Make sure your line is good and your knots are tied correctly. Everything will get pushed to the absolute maximum on these trips.

Good rental tackle is available! You don't need to buy special stuff. Just let us know what you need.

--Feel completely free to bring any tackle you wish! However, you will probably want to include the following items.
--1 light rod, 12-25 pound rated, for small lures, fishing live bait on surface, Penn 500 size reel.
--1 medium rod, 40-60 pound rated, for trolling, bottom bait, bottom iron, Penn 4/0 size reel.
--1 heavy rod, 80-130 pound rated, for grouper, black seabass, shark, etc., Penn 6/0 size reel.
--5 to 10 each, lead torpedo sinkers: 4-ounce, 6-ounce, 12-ounce, and 16-ounce.
--25 each, live bait hooks, similar to Eagle Claw 118 mag: 5/0 and 8/0 sizes.
--3 each, big game hooks: 6/0 and 9/0 sizes.
--6 Lucky Joe live bait catching rigs with #4 hooks.
--Iron jigs, 10 medium and 10 small, your choice of colors. Recommended: blue/white, green/yellow, and chrome.
--MirrOlure/Rapala type trolling lures, 8-10 inches long, 4 for surface and 4 for deep diving.
--4 to 6 trolling feathers, various colors (June through October).
--Black swivels and snaps, 4/0 size, at least 10.
--Butt belt, pliers, tools, etc.
